Elizabeth Fitzpatrick

Elizabeth Fitzpatrick is an associate professor in audiology in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. She is involved in the administration of a new Certificate in Auditory-Verbal Studies, launched in 2011. Elizabeth joined the university in 2007 after completing doctoral studies in population health at the University of Ottawa. She has worked in auditory (re)habilitation and audiology for the past 25 years. Before joining the university, she held various clinical and management positions as audiologist and therapist at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in Ottawa and the Central Speech and Hearing Clinic in Winnipeg. Working in collaboration with colleagues at CHEO and the Ottawa Hospital, her research and publications cover the spectrum from infants to adults.  Her research is primarily supported by a grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) as well as through a CIHR New Investigator Award, an Ontario Early Researcher Award and a Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Program career enhancement award.  In January, 2012, she became the editor of the Canadian Journal of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.  She engages in promoting rehabilitation services in the community and serves as a board member of the Central Speech and Hearing Clinic in Winnipeg and of Voice for Hearing-Impaired Children.
