Established in 2006, The Loyer-DaSilva Research Chair in Community and Public Health Nursing was created in partnership with the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa, and recognizes the enormous contributions of Professor Marie des Anges Loyer. The first research chair in public health nursing in Canada, The Loyer-DaSilva Research Chair will lead the way in researching new and innovative ways of improving environments as well as develop programs that reduce barriers to health for marginalized populations. The Loyer-DaSilva Research Chair has a strong focus on health promotion, will factor in historical and socio-political health determinants, and will demonstrate significant benefits to local, Canadian and global  groups and communities.
