The Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences (ISHS) is home to researchers and students interested in multidimensional perspectives of health.

Our interdisciplinary approach enables understanding of the interactions and relationships between the biological determinants of health and our environments, social networks and communities. This approach fosters the discovery of innovative ways to investigate health, longevity and disease using interdisciplinary methodologies, approaches and perspectives. Areas of research include integrative health biosciences, population health and health technologies.

We provide academic programming at the undergraduate (Honours Bachelor in Health Sciences) and graduate levels (MSc program in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences), and are the administrative home for the Population Health PhD program.

Interdisciplinarity is the major brand of our academic programs and our School. The School defines interdisciplinarity as approaches to analyze and integrate knowledge and experiences from various disciplines to address health issues. Students learn to appreciate the complexity of modern health issues/problems that cannot be investigated or mitigated by a single discipline.
