School of Human Kinetics Names Sean Egan Memorial Scholarship Winner

The School of Human Kinetics has awarded the Sean Egan Memorial Scholarship to Mr. Benjamin Raymond.
This scholarship was established in memory of Sean Egan who was an associate professor with the School when he died during an ascent on Mount Everest in 2005. The award seeks to provide financial assistance to students who embody Professor Egan’s passion for fitness, health and leadership in physical activity. The scholarship carries with it a monetary prize of $5000.
Mr. Raymond has had active roles as a sport coach, student mentor, research assistant, swim instructor, water polo league convenor, and Exercise is Medicine representative. He has impacted a vast number of people and made contributions to many communities of physical activity. Mr. Raymond is celebrated for upholding and modelling the School of Human Kinetics’ value of meaningful community service activities.
